On 09 June 2025, the Philippine Intellectual Property Office (“IPOPHL”) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”) held a workshop for the benefit of IP practitioners from the legal community, the business sector, and the academe. VeraLaw sent one of its junior associates, Atty. Julianna J. Soberano, to represent the firm and participate in this workshop.

The workshop introduced the ASEAN IP Register as an effective tool for IP portfolio management and IP-related market research. Essentially, this Register was designed to consolidate the various trademark, patent, and design registrations of IP rights holders across the ten (10) ASEAN member states.

During the workshop, the speakers provided a comprehensive overview of the Register, offering practical guidelines and expert advice to support practitioners in effectively utilizing the system. Participants were also given the opportunity to engage with the Register firsthand, contributing valuable insights on its potential to enhance their clients’ business growth and safeguard existing intellectual property rights across Southeast Asia. Additionally, the event facilitated meaningful networking among IP professionals from various sectors, fostering discussions on the current landscape and emerging trends in intellectual property practice in the Philippines.

VeraLaw anticipates that this Register will greatly aid its IP attorneys and practitioners in monitoring and maintaining the many trademarks and patents handled by the firm. VeraLaw continues to remain steadfast in the protection and enforcement of its client’s IP rights and is positive that this Register will provide more than adequate support for the firm.
