To comply with existing data privacy laws, we adopted a Privacy Policy that is compliant with Data Privacy Act of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 10173), the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) to protect personal data of clients collected and/or processed by the firm.

Information that we collect and Purpose/s: We process information that you directly provide us, including, but not limited to: names, addresses, contact numbers, e-mail addresses, company position and designation (if applicable). The personal data that we collect depends entirely upon the information provided to us, either by you personally or by your company or service provider.

We shall use your personal information to contact you, accomplish the work for which we were engaged and/or to comply with statutory/regulatory requirements and/or to enforce legal rights.

Storage and retention of data: Your data is stored both in physical and in electronic format. Your physical files are organized in folders and marked by a distinct accession number. These folders are located in secured cabinets and safe inside our office and may be accessed only by lawyers and staff who are directly involved in accomplishing the purpose for which we are engaged. Electronic data, consisting of typewritten and/or scanned copies of your documents, are stored in a secure online storage facility managed by VeraLaw’s IT team headed by partner-in-charge Atty. Ma. Theresa C. Gonzales.

We shall retain your personal information while the purpose/s for which we were engaged remain active. Upon completion thereof, we shall retain your information in compliance with legal, statutory, or regulatory provisions. Otherwise, we shall return to you the physical copies and delete the electronic files of your personal data 5 years after completion of the work for which we were engaged.

Rights as Data Subject: This Privacy Policy adopts the rights of data subjects under the Data Privacy Act:

1. To be informed of the details of your personal data, the purpose, scope and method for its processing, the length of time your information will be retained and their location.

2. To object to the processing of personal data, unless: (a) the data is needed pursuant to a subpoena; (b) the collection and processing are incidental to the work by which the controller/processor is engaged; or (c) the information is being collected and processed as a result of a legal obligation.

3. To access, upon demand, the contents of your personal data that were processed and the sources from your personal data were obtained, among others.

4. To rectification in the event of inaccuracy or error in the personal data collected or processed.

5. To erasure or blocking, with the collateral right to suspend, withdraw or demand the blocking, removal or destruction of your personal data from the personal information controller’s filing system, subject to conditions laid down by law.
6. To damages, that may be awarded by the National Privacy Commission, in case of inaccurate, false, or unauthorized use of personal data.

Protection and Confidentiality: We fully understand the highly confidential and fiduciary nature clients’ personal information. As such, we undertake to protect them at all times pursuant to the Code of Professional Responsibility that mandates the inviolability of personal information acquired by reason of attorney-client privilege.
