Daphne’s corporate practice includes establishment of various corporate entities both for domestic and foreign clients, obtaining government licenses/regulatory approval of shipping enterprises particularly with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and review and corporate housekeeping. She also provides legal advice to foreign clients in regard to establishment of corporate entities in the Philippines best suited to their business venture and structure their investments based on their commercial plans and objectives. She sits as Corporate Secretary of numerous corporations involved in ship management and crewing, construction and mining.

In the area of Intellectual Property, Daphne handled litigation of unfair competition and trademark infringement cases before the lower courts and the Philippines Intellectual Property Office. Her most notable case involving trademark infringement of an internationally well-known mark was upheld by the Supreme Court. Currently, she is active in patent prosecution and maintenance for foreign clients in the tobacco, pharmaceuticals and electronics industries.

Her mining practice includes assisting clients in their applications for mining tenements and rendering legal opinions on various mining related contracts, mining laws and regulations. She also represents mining clients in administrative proceedings before the Mines and Geosciences Bureau. She did various due diligence projects of mining tenements in the Philippines for several foreign companies, two of which formed part of the admission documents for the listing of an international mining company at the AIM London Stock Exchange and resulted in successfully raising funds for the company’s mining projects in the Philippines.

Daphne also acts for ship owners, P&I clubs and crewing companies for crew claim and termination cases before the National Labor Relations Commission.

She is currently the Vice President for Resource Development of the Maritime Law Association of the Philippines (MARLAW) and was previously its Vice President for Internal Relations from October 2011 to October 2012 and for Legal Education and Training from October 2010 to October 2011. She is a co-author of an article on the latest developments in the Philippine maritime industry which was published in the 2014 edition of The Shipping Law Review.

Daphne obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Juris Doctor Degrees both from Ateneo de Manila University. She was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1996.

In her spare time, Daphne dabbles in photography.
